I want to introduce you to one of my favorite desserts, Trifle. When I was first learning to bake there would be those times when an item wouldn't turn out... all you bakers know what I am talking about. Cakes would explode, brownies would stick to the pan, cookies would resemble something other than a cookie. That is when my wise mother taught me about trifle. I now share her wisdom with you. When something fails while baking, do not fret, turn it into trifle. Trifle takes three items, a baking disaster, some ooey gooey creamy yumminess, and a sticky sweet item for your third. You can't believe how many times this wisdom has helped me. Like the time I was meeting my husband's family for the first time. I of course wanted to impress them with my amazing baking skills, so when I dropped the cake I was baking...I thought I might cry. Then mom's wise words came to me...I grabbed a glass bowl, my crumbled up cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries. Once again trifle saved me. My in-laws to this day request trifle for all of the family functions. Now I get to share trifle with all of my customers. If you haven't tried it, you will fall in love with all of the rich yummy flavor combinations we have to offer. If you have tried it, well you already know. This week mention the blog and get our trifle for just $2.99/ea. It is definitely a dessert you can share, or eat some now and a little later, and finish it off for breakfast. Hope to see you all soon. Marcee Kitchen - Owner, Dippidee

This week the blog special is my personal favorite! It’s a comfort food and oh so tasty. It’s the Red Velvet cupcake. I remember the first time I had red velvet; I was living in NYC and had a bit of a slice of cake from a friend’s plate. I did not like it! The cake part was okay but the frosting was too heavy and sweet. After years of saying no thanks I don’t like red velvet cake I came to work at Dippidee’s and decided to try it again. Customers were always asking if I liked it and what it tasted like. So I final gave it a second chance, i took a big bite of a cupcake! I was surprised to find out I do like it! One of the things that makes ours a little different is we use a different type of frosting. It looks like butter cream but its not as rich, and sweet. It’s a very smooth and creamy frosting. Its in fact PERFECT for this dense, moist, butter milk base cake! Come by this week and try it for yourself! Its buy 1 get 1 free if you mention the blog!

Why do you give apples to teachers as gifts?

There are two reasons for this. Years ago during pioneer days people didn't go out and buy gifts like they may buy for their teachers today and so they would give apples. There is also a saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away" and it's wishing their teacher good health through the school year. This new school year give your teacher a new type of Apple-a sugar cookie apple! (They will never forget this one) It made from our famous sugar cookie dough, baked until golden brown but nice and soft. Then it is decorated with a thick layer of our famous butter cream frosting! If you mention our blog we will wrap one up for you in a cello bag with a fun bow! (one per customer please!)

Can you believe summer is almost over? I sure can't! The treat this week is one of our popular bars. Its perfect to take to the lake, a barbecue or just for around the house. This chewy oatmeal almond bar is full of delicious rolled oats and yummy almonds. Its topped with a semi-sweet chocolate fudge and sprinkled with more toasty oats.
